Love Thy Neighbor

Our problem is not with the willingness to love, the problem is identifying our neighbor.

If someone says to me, All Lives Matter, I want to listen to their heart and intent for why they say that phrase. I listen, because when I say Black Lives Matter, I would want someone to listen to my heart and intent for using that phrase and not assuming that I’m a “Liberal BLM Marxist.” As the expert in the later law answered Jesus, the neighbor is the one who shows mercy (compassionate treatment of those in distress).

The same mercy you would want others to extend to you, is the same mercy you should extend to others. To show empathy and mercy is not an affirmation of ideals, it’s an acknowledgement that they too are image bearers deserving of grace.

Have you loved your neighbor today?
